“Does this jacket look like something my (very stylish) Grandmother would have worn?” I ask myself this same question every time I pull this tweed bomber jacket out of my closet. The answer… probably yes, but that’s because she crushed the style game. Her take on this piece, I assume would have been a bit different, but a tweed jacket is a classic.
The vintage Chanel jacket (in tweed, of course), one of the most classic (and long-lasting!) pieces in fashion history, was first designed by Coco Chanel. It has been reinterpreted and reinvented by many designers, all while maintaining the aesthetic of the original design. It is a wardrobe staple that can be worn by anyone, adapting to each women’s personal flair. I mixed mine with trendier pieces like these black cut-out booties and a cool “double buckle” western belt. Adding in these can help keep the timelessness of the classic while still keeping an up-to-date overall look.
