I took a break to relax and spend time with my family and friends (a huge reason I love the holiday season)! During the mini break, Cooper and I were lucky enough to explore a new state with some great friends! Since, I haven’t quite gotten to the status where I can quit my 9 to 5 and blog full time I have to take these mini breaks when I can get them. We headed to Chester, Vermont which is about 3 hours from Portland, to ring in the New Year. And I have to say it was the cutest little town! It reminded me a lot of Maine which I think is why I felt so at ease there.

Car packed full! I have not conquered the whole “light packing” concept yet but we are working on it (2019 resolution ??) and to be fair we did have our friends, Chelsea and Andrews luggage in there as well.

Before heading to the AirBnB which was in Chester, we stopped in Woodstock to grab some lunch and see the town. Woodstock is what I would imagine every town in the state of Vermont to look like. Picturesque. You can see that this town is a “four season” destination, meaning that whenever you decide to go you are going to leave with a camera roll filled with Instagram worthy photos.

Filled our stomach with AMAZING food from Worthy Kitchen.

Our friend Chelsea found The Amare Guesthouse on AirBnb and can I just say that it reminds me of a home an American Girl Doll would have lived in. It has been newly renovated and looks like it should be in Country Living magazine! It’s adorable and housed all 6 of us perfectly (also the hosts were easy to get in touch with if we had any questions).

We had dinner at the historic Grafton Inn and then headed over to the Phelps Barn for drinks and listened to some great live music (we requested “Banana Pancakes” by Jack Johnson and he sang “Banana Pancakes” by Jack Johnson. It was wonderful).

On New Year’s Eve day we woke up early to shred some pow at Okemo. When it comes to mountain preferences I think I might be a little biased, but it was great to try out new terrain (will always be a “loafer” at heart)!

After all the skiing and boarding I couldn’t have imagined a better end to 2018 than with some great drinks, delicious food, fun games and the best company! It was the perfect little getaway and made me very very thankful for the life I have and the people that are in it.

“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”- Neil Gaiman

  1. Love this post! Grafton, Chester and the Amare Guesthouse were amazing, especially with you and Coop! Here’s to more mini breaks together in 2019! xo
